Towson's Tyler re-ups with Mariners
Tigers Lineman of the Year, New Jersey All-State Selection to Return in 2010
BALTIMORE, MD (December 11, 2009) – Jeff Tyler, the 6’6”, 280 pound offensive lineman that bolstered the Baltimore Mariners’ league leading rushing attack in 2009, has re-signed with the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) team, which is set to kick-off its third season at 1st Mariner Arena in March 2010.
Baltimore Mariners Head Coach Chris Simpson commented on the Franklinville, New Jersey native, “Jeff was a very pleasant surprise last season and did a great job anchoring the right side of our offensive line. He has tremendous technique and is able to handle pass rushers that were much heavier than he was.”
Tyler put together an award-filled prep career at Delsea Regional High School of Franklinville earning second team All-New Jersey, first team All-South Jersey, All-Tri-County Conference and All-Group III honors. In addition he was recognized as Lineman of the Year in South Jersey as a senior and led the Crusaders to three consecutive Tri-County Conference championships and three straight South Jersey Group III championship teams.

Another Former Phantom Joins the Herd
Harrisburg, Pa. - Former Florence Phantom Derrick Scott is the newest member of the Harrisburg Stampede after recently signing with the team. He will be the kicker for the Stampede in the 2010 season.
Scott, like many Stampede players, began playing in Pee Wee football at a very young age. This would be his first experience playing organized football. He eventually went on to play college football at Tennessee Tech University. After graduation, his pro career began with the Osceola Ghostriders, of the former “World Indoor Football League.”
He then tried out and signed with the Florence Phantoms of the AIFA before the 2008 season. That season, the Phantoms won AIFA Championship Bowl II. Scott said, “So far, that was the greatest moment of my football career. Just having that feeling and knowing you are on the best team is like nothing else.” In 2009, Scott led Florence in scoring with 100 points.
He has already set his goals for the upcoming season. “I want to win a championship. That should be your goal every year. It doesn’t matter what your record was a year ago. It is a new season.”
Coach Ramon Robinson was asked about the signing of Derrick Scott and said, “It is always great when you can add players to your lineup that are winners. Derrick is a veteran who will bring a lot of leadership and one heck of a leg to the locker room.”
Scott currently resides in Tampa, Florida.
