Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has signed 5 players for the 2013 Season.
As Training Camp approaches, the Stampede Coaching Staff is still working on bringing in players for the March 1 start date. In previous years Head Coach Nowotarski and Staff would bring in the League limit of 45 players to camp. The Stampede staff decided that this year they would be more selective in their player search. We are only bringing in maybe 33 or 34 players. We plan on practicing March 1st and game planning for our opening game on March 16th. We just don’t have enough time to fairly and properly evaluate 45 players. We want to get right down to business and be ready for opening night, commented Coach Nowotarski.
The Stampede has certainly strengthened its roster in the last 10 days with the signing of Vincent Tiberi, Mark Stout, Brian Bradford, Jamaal Stokes and todays signing of Shaquane Madison. Tiberi and Bradford were among the League leaders last season in tackles, sacks and creating problems for opponants. Stout has been a long-time fixture with Coach Nowotarski, but he gets ready every season and helps to keep QB EJ Nemeth protected. His experience is also invaluable to the rookies and younger linemen. Stokes is another experienced vet who can play both sides of the ball at WR or DB. Stokes will be reporting to Stampede camp as he finishes up his Military Boot Camp for the National Guard. Madison is another two-way player on the OL and DL. This is another Stampede Linemen that has size and strength and Indoor experience.
We are looking forward to Training Camp and getting ready for our Home Opener on Saturday March 16th. We have a lot of work to do in a very short time, but it’s just part of our philosophy to “Work Together, Win Together, remarked Nowotarski.

Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that WR Prentice Quince has signed with the Stampede for the 2013 Season.
Prentice is a player with quickness, speed and seems to just find the open area. The former Boynton Beach Community HS and Tallahassee Community College Grad has been a thorn in Coach Nowotarski’s defensive game plan for several seasons as part of the Fayetteville Guard and Force and last year’s AIF Champions Cape Fear Heroes.
Prentice signing with the Stampede will give the Stampede another speed threat. As well his Indoor experience and understanding of the game should pay off in points scored especially with veteran QB EJ Nemeth.
“If you would have told me a week ago that we were going to sign a starting WR from Cape Fear, I would have told you that’s just crazy. When Prentice messaged me I was shocked that he asked if he could come play for us in Harrisburg. Over the last 4 or 5 seasons this kid has probably caught more TD’s against us than any other receiver. So we are excited to have Prentice and we look forward to him getting into town. I think he will be a big hit with the kids and our fans. He understands how to play this game and entertain,” mentioned Nowotarski. .
Just a Reminder: The Stampede’s first Open Try-Out is Saturday January 12 from 10am to 1pm at Sports City Harrisburg. See our Team Web Site and our FB and Twitter pages for details. Opening night is Saturday March 16 at 5:05pm. Our FREE Super Bowl Ticket promotion is running til the end of this week. Don’t miss your chance for 2 tickets to the Big Game in New Orleans.
The Harrisburg Stampede has taken an active community role by becoming a major sponsor of the Pa Farm Show event that is taking place this week.
The Stampede helped to kick off the Farm Show with an appearance by Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski and his two sons Giovanni and Brody. Along with RB Eugene Goodman and two members of the Starletz dance team Sara and Lindsey.
They excited the sold out Farm Show Arena by throwing Mini Stampede footballs into the crowd. As well the Stampede made a major ticket announcement as they have offered fans to purchase 2 season tickets and be automatically entered for a chance to win 2 Super Bowl Tickets for the game in New Orleans next month.
When you purchase two Harrisburg Stampede season tickets between Saturday, January 5, 2013 and Saturday, January 12, 2013 you will become eligible to win 2 Super Bowl XLVII Tickets in New Orleans, LA.
Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has re-signed Defensive Lineman, Fearon Wright for the 2013 Season.
Former University of Rhode Island and Minnesota Viking, Fearon Wright has signed on for the 2013 Stampede season. After what looked like a career ending injury last season, Fearon wants to finish what the Stampede did not accomplish last season, winning the AIF Championship. Wright will be joining a Stampede defense with several returning players from last season and some new talented players. The one thing that won’t be different for Wright is Coach Nowotarski’s philosophy of calling the Stampede D. Play fast, play hard, play aggressive and play smart.
Fearon’s has put his late season neck injury behind him and is what could be the best physical condition of his life.”Fearon plays with heart and desire like no player I have ever coached. Coming back was all Fearon’s decision and I am all in with that decision,” commented Nowotarski.
The Stampede and Wright will open training camp with one thing on their mind and that is putting together a game plan for their Home Opening game on Saturday, March 16 in the Large Farm Show Arena at 5:05pm against the Washington Eagles.
Just a Reminder: The first Stampede Open-Try Out will be Saturday January 12 at Sports City Harrisburg. Registration starts at 9am and the Work-Out is from 10am – 1:00pm.
Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that the Stampede has signed DL Jashawn Williams for the 2013 Season.
Jashawn is a native of Brooklyn, NY where he attended Roosevelt HS. He was an All-County and All-Long Island selection. Jashawn played his college football and graduated from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Jashawn was named as the Defensive Linemen of the Year and an All-Conference First Team member of the Division II NE-10. His 12 sacks were second best in all of D-II and was a big part of Jashawn being named to the D-II All-American First Team.
Jashawn is another nice find in the D-II pool of talent that is based here in the Northeastern part of the country. We see JW as a speed rusher and he should fit in very well with our defensive style of play. We like to be aggressive and apply pressure whenever we can from our up-front group and let our DB’s cover. At 6’2” and 245lbs, Jashawn is another big, strong and athletic lineman and we expect him to be a big part of the Stampede defense.

Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has signed Offensive Linemen, Anthony Amoo for the 2013 Season.
Trying to find a Center is a tough task for almost every team at any level. The Stampede has brought in 6’3” 300lb Anthony Amoo to become the anchor of the Stampede offensive line. Having a center that is experienced, determined and the type of player that is ready to hold down the middle of the line is what the Stampede is getting from AA.
Anthony makes his home right now in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. However, his high school football was played in Sugarland, Texas at Stephen F Austin. Anthony stayed in his home state of Texas to play his college football at the University of Houston. “We are very happy to have AA sign his Stampede contract and step into the lead role on the Stampede offensive line. He has the size and agility to handle the center of our line” commented Nowotarski. We believe Anthony is going to be a very good fit on and off the field in Harrisburg.
Just a Reminder: The Stampede will be holding their first Open Try-Out early in January. Please watch the team web site and FB page for all the details.
Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that WR/KR Jerell Jones has signed with the Stampede for the 2013 Season.
JJ attended Roosevelt HS in Yonkers, New York where he still resides and works. At Roosevelt JJ was responsible for 4194 All-Purpose yards and countless other football and track records. JJ’s accomplishments landed him in Kingston, Rhode Island and at URI. His career included being an All-Conference player on the field and an All-Academic student in the classrooms. He still holds or is in the top 10 all time of at least 7 URI football records. Just a side note. JJ played against Stampede Owner and New Orleans Saint, Marques Colston four times while they were both in college.
JJ is no stranger to the arena game as he played with the San Jose Sabercats in the AFL. He also spent time in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes and time over-seas in Germany. Coach Nowotarski saw JJ play this summer as he was a part of the Chambersburg Cardinals. “JJ is the type of player that as soon as I saw him play, I wanted him to be with us during our season. At 5’8” 185lbs, JJ plays hard, runs hard, runs fast, runs solid routes and has great hands and off the field he is a gentlemen, we couldn’t pass him up. Our relationship this summer with Chambersburg has been a real plus for both our players who played this summer and the Cardinal players coming to play for the Stampede” commented Nowotarski
Just a Reminder: The Teams First Open Try-Out is being set for early January…Watch our web site and FB page for all the details.
