The Arizona Outlaws lost their second straight American Indoor Football League game Friday night, succumbing to the California Eagles, 68-44, at Tim's Toyota Center despite receiving six touchdowns from speedster Kevin Breaker.Arizona's league record now stands at 1-2 overall, while the Eagles evened their mark at 1-1.
The Outlaws' Breaker scored three first-half touchdowns that helped hand Arizona an early 26-22 lead. However, the Eagles rattled off 14 unanswered points to claim a 36-26 advantage by halftime.
In the third quarter, California began to pull away even though Breaker scored his fourth TD of the night to pull the Outlaws within 10 points of the lead, down 42-32.
But with the Eagles ahead 48-32 entering the fourth quarter, they scored 20 points in the final period to counter two late scores from Breaker and walk away with the victory.
Early in the contest, Breaker hurt the Eagles on special teams as a return man. However, once California booted the ball away from Breaker and implemented a series of short kicks and offside kicks, the visitors pulled away.
The Outlaws will play their next home game at 3 p.m. March 25 against the West Coast Division-leading Ontario (Calif.) Warriors. Last Friday, the Warriors roughed up Arizona, 84-50, in Prescott Valley.
In their first three games of the 2012 season, the Outlaws have been outscored 165-134.
After March 25, Arizona has three more home dates on its schedule, including April 21 versus the Alameda Knights, May 12 versus the Eagles, and a May 26 rematch against the Knights.
Kickoff times for the April 21 and May 12 contests are scheduled for 7 p.m., while the May 26 clash is slated for 4 p.m.
